The name Blackhouse is adopted from a term used to describe a traditional type of house which used to be common in the Scottish Highlands, the Hebrides, and Ireland.
Blackhouse Architecture has experience in the residential sector, from small house alterations & extensions to one-off bespoke houses, masterplanning, commercial, education and health. Blackhouse adopt historical architectural traditions with modern solutions – be it with materials, scale, geometry and proportion – to add visual interest. A minimal, pared-down approach is our preferred option to create and realise simple yet elegant, beautiful buildings.
I’m an ARB registered Architect, therefore, the title ‘Architect’ is protected, with a law requiring those who use it to be registered with the Architect’s Registration Board (ARB) after undergoing 7 years of architectural education and a minimum of a further 2 years working in the industry.
The ARB is an independent body for the registration of architects in the UK and ensures that we practice within their standards and codes of conduct. (for further information visit http://www.arb.org.uk)
